Why get consent?
There are many reasons to get consent but the most obvious is to relieve you, the media creator, from any liability in regards to the media you create. Similar to your responsibility to cite externally obtained work, whether text, sounds or images, having people sign a consent form frees you from the burden of worrying whether or not you may find yourself prevented from delivering your media later. The classic example would be that you take a video or photograph and then later, someone in the video is unhappy to see themselves recorded, you never asked their permission and so they make a formal request that you not use their likeness. Now what?
The simple act and best practice of getting consent BEFORE you create is the way to avoid a problem.
